Pre-Prosthetic Surgery
The preparation of your jaw and bone before placement of an implant or prosthetic tooth is referred to as pre-prosthetic surgery. In some patients, missing teeth will over time cause their jawbone to atrophy. This creates weak bone unsuitable for placing an implant. For patients seeking a partial or complete denture, the bone ridge on which the denture would sit may be jagged, or of an improper shape or size. This situation can be compounded by an impacted tooth that might need to be extracted. In cases such as these a smoothing or reshaping of the bone might be needed.
Front Range Dental Center of Fort Collins may preform any of the following procedures to address your specific dental situation:
- Bone Smoothing and Reshaping
- Removal of Excess Gum Tissue
- Bone Grafts
- Removal of Excess Bone
- Bone Ridge Smoothing
- Exposing Impacted Teeth
- Removal of Impacted Teeth
We will review these and other options with you once our dentists and oral surgeons have thoroughly evaluated the particular circumstances of your case. Call us for your initial appointment today!
