FRONT RANGE DENTAL CENTER Gives Patients Gift of Time and Smiles

New technology creates natural-looking fillings and crowns in a single visit

FORT COLLINS, CO – SEPTEMBER 18, 2018 – Drs. RADTKE, ECKHARDT, HUNTER, AND LAMBERT of FRONT RANGE DENTAL CENTER, announce the availability of tooth-colored fillings and crowns, formed to exact tooth dimensions in a single office visit. The new approach to tooth restoration is made possible by innovative CEREC® CAD/CAM technology that designs and mills a custom ceramic restoration in under two hours.

“We are pleased to offer our patients the most convenient and esthetically pleasing tooth restoration process available today,” said Dr. Radtke, Dentist, at FRONT RANGE DENTAL CENTER. “Time is increasingly precious, and we recognize that most people don’t see the dentist office as a favorite past time. Using the CEREC equipment we can provide a great looking smile to our patients in a single visit, letting them get back to the more important things in life.”

CEREC is comprised of a Omnicam which features a LED light source, a medical grade computer and a milling machine, all located on site at the Front Range Dental Center office. The system allows Drs. Radtke, Eckhardt, Hunter and Lambert to repair a damaged tooth in about two hours using tooth-colored ceramic restorations. The camera takes an optical impression of the damaged tooth, eliminating the need for cumbersome and uncomfortable impression molds, and uploads the image to the computer. Once in the system, Dr. Radtke uses 3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) software to design the restoration. Then the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) system takes over to automatically create the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the new custom-crafted restoration is bonded to the remaining healthy tooth tissue of the damaged tooth.

Restorations created using CEREC technology offer dental patients a long-lasting, esthetic alternative to silver or plastic fillings, crowns and veneers. Better yet, the patient can receive this smile-altering care in a shorter period of time. Traditional approaches often required a return appointment after the patient waited for the restoration to be manufactured in a separate lab. On-site milling eliminates the wait. CEREC restorations are as durable as traditionally fabricated restorations and are similar to patients’ natural dentition in form and function.

“This equipment greatly enhances the efficiency, accuracy and visual appeal of the restorations we can provide,” said Dr. Eckhardt. “Patients will benefit from more timely and more comfortable care that puts them back on track quickly. We are optimistic that the availability of CEREC restorations will help some patients overcome their fears when they see how fast and painless the treatment process can be. We believe everyone should have access to their best smile, and CEREC will make that possible for more people.”

CEREC has more than two decades of clinical research and documentation to support the technology. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective, with more than 25 million performed worldwide.

What is the Purpose of a Dental Crown?

One of our Loveland dental patients asked. “What is the purpose of a dental crown?” A dental crown serves many different purposes. A dental crown, sometimes referred to as a “dental cap” is a permanent dental restoration that covers your tooth above the gum line.

There are many reasons a dental crown may be needed. The strength of the tooth may have been weakened by a fracture, severe decay, a large filing, been involved in an accident, or had a root canal. If you have a dental implant placed, you will also need a dental crown. Another reason is may be for cosmetic reasons.

After a root canal therapy (root canal procedure), your tooth can become frail and break easily. Your Fort Collins Dentists recommend places a dental crown or cap after the root canal heals. This could be one or two weeks after the root canal therapy.

A dental implant is placed by Dr. Spivak or a specialty trained dentist. The dentist, Dr. Spivak, will place the dental implant into the patients jaw bone. After your jaw bone heals, your Fort Collins dentist will place a dental crown on top of the dental implant to finish the dental restoration.
If you think you need a dental crown, please call 970-673-7321 to schedule an appointment with one of our great Fort Collins dentists. After your initial dental exam, our dental staff will let you know how much your dental insurance will pay for your crown.

Our Fort Collins dentists are conveniently located in the Front Range Village Shopping Center in the Southeast side of Fort Collins, with easy access for dental patients from Fort Collins, Timnath, Windsor, Loveland, and Cheyenne.

Getting A Root Canal in Fort Collins

Root Canal Therapy treatments are performed by Fort Collins dentists to repair teeth that are decayed, infected, or has been traumatized in an accident. Root Canals are one of the most often performed dental procedures done each year. It is estimated that over 15 million Root Canals will be performed in the USA this year. Root Canal Therapy is also known as Endodontic Therapy, Endodontic Treatments, or generally known as a “Root Canal”.

Fort Collins dentists, Dr. Kathryn Radtke, Dr. Brad Eckhardt, Dr. Sandy Hunter, and Dr. Alex Spivak perform numerous Root Canals at Front Range Dental Center each year. This Root Canal treatment may help you save your natural teeth and may prevent you from needing a dental implants or bridges on the tooth that needs a Root Canal Therapy.

What actually is a Root Canal?

The term Root Canal is used to describe the pulp or pulp chamber in the center of the tooth. Each tooth has a nerve that lies within the Root Canal. The tooth’s nerves main function is to since for hot or cold temperatures. The absence or presence of the tooth’s nerve will not affect the health or functioning of the tooth.

Your dentist in Fort Collins would perform a “Root Canal” to save a tooth when the nerve of the tooth is infected, traumatized, or cracked to remove the decay and infection of the tooth. During the “Root Canal” procedure, the pulp and the nerve of the tooth would be removed and the inside of the tooth would be cleaned and sealed to prevent bacteria from re-infecting the tooth. Depending on the severity of the infection, The “Root Canal” procedure may require two separate appointments.

What happens after I get a “Root Canal?”

After the “Root Canal” is completed, your Fort Collins dentist recommends avoiding chewing on the repaired tooth for a few days. Also, after a “Root Canal” is completed, there may be some sensitivity in the tooth that had the Root Canal for a few days. The dentist will talk to you about what kind of pain medications they would recommend for the next few days.

After allowing the tooth to heal, a dental crown may be needed to aid in the protection and restoration of the tooth. Your Fort Collins dentist will advise you if a crown is recommended.

What are the symptoms that a Root Canal might be needed?

Here are the most common symptoms that a Root canal maybe needed: pressure in the abscessed (puss filled, infected) tooth, extreme sensitivity to hot and cold, and pain. Some visual signs that a Root Canal may be needed included: darkening of the tooth (color), pimples or abscesses forming on the gums, swelling and tenderness of the gums, and tenderness around the gums. In some situations, if the tooth is Neurotic, there may not be any signs or symptoms.

What happens if I don’t get a Root Canal?

If the decayed or infected tooth is not treated with a root canal, bacteria may continue to enter your body through the nerve. The surrounding tissue may also become infected, causing swelling throughout the face, possible bone loss, and sometimes creating a hole in the tooth and possibly a hole through your cheek.

If you opt for not getting a root canal, the other option is extracting (pulling) the tooth. Extracting the tooth might sound like the easiest and cheapest option, but removing the tooth can cause problems with the adjacent teeth, your bite and possibly yourself esteem. When a tooth is removed, the dentist may recommend a dental implant or a dental bridge.

How much is a “Root Canal”?

At Front Range Dental Center a Root Canal is $875-$1100. If a patient has dental insurance, your dental insurance may cover a portion of the Root Canal.

If you think that you may need a Root Canal, Endodontic Therapy, Endodontic Treatments, or Root Canal Therapy contact your friendly Fort Collins dentist at Front Range Dental Center: 970-673-7321. We will be happy to schedule an appointment to remedy your pain.
